Mount Allison University offers BA/BS in Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, a bachelor's degree in Linguistics & Language Studies programme in Sackville, Canada. Tuition for international students is CAD 22,890 per year (CAD 11,350 per year for local students).
Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Mount Allison University is offered as a Bachelor of Arts major (72 credits) or honours (78 credits), structured around three languages studied at different levels: a first language (33 credits) chosen from French or Spanish, a second (24 credits) from French, Spanish, or German, and a third (12 credits) from French, Spanish, German, or Japanese. Alongside language instruction, the program covers literature, film, culture, and foundational linguistics, aiming to build strong ability in two languages together with working knowledge of a third. Small class sizes are used to develop communicative competence, cultural awareness, and aesthetic literacy, supported by a dedicated Language Lab, faculty-supervised research, experiential learning, and study-abroad opportunities in France, Germany, Spain, and Japan. It suits students drawn to multilingual, cross-cultural work, with graduates going on to roles such as interpreter or translator, immigration officer, intelligence officer, language consultant, linguist, tourism development officer, and immigrant or refugee support specialist.

Admission Requirements: The Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures page states no admission requirements of its own and defers to Mount Allison's general admissions process (admission-requirements page). As English is the language of instruction, applicants may be asked to prove proficiency with one of: IELTS Academic 6.5 (no band below 6.0); TOEFL iBT 90 with at least 20 per section (before Jan. 21, 2026) or the redesigned TOEFL at 4.5 overall, 4.5 Writing, 4.0 elsewhere (from that date); PTE Academic 60 (no score below 51); CAEL CE 70 (no part below 60); Cambridge English B2 First/C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency 176 (no band below 169); or Duolingo 110 (Comprehension 125, Literacy 120, Conversation 110, Production 95). No prior language knowledge is required for German, Spanish, or Japanese; French requires a placement test at registration.
