Overview
Trainer in Circus Arts leads to an Attestation of College Studies or School Attestation of Studies and prepares participants to train circus educators at a more advanced level than the Instructor program. The course totals 765 hours, comprising 555 hours of coursework and a 210-hour internship arranged by the student, delivered across fall and winter sessions in person or, with later start dates, online. Coursework covers class management, initial training in circus techniques, supervision of performances, apparatus setup, social circus activities, movement analysis, and physical and psychological development, alongside more advanced technical training than the Instructor level. Applicants need post-secondary credentials or secondary school completion combined with relevant experience in circus arts, theatre, dance, or another sport-related discipline, strong communication skills, and French proficiency, except in the English-language School Attestation stream. Completion of the Instructor-level program beforehand is preferred though not stated as mandatory. The program suits those with a demonstrated interest in teaching who want to move into developing other circus instructors rather than working directly with participants.

Candidates must have practical or teaching experience in circus arts, theatre, dance, or a related sport such as gymnastics, parkour, trampoline, or cheerleading, or another relevant discipline, and must demonstrate excellent communication skills. A good knowledge of French is required, except for the English-language stream leading to the School Attestation of Studies; no IELTS or TOEFL score is published. Prior completion of the Circus Arts Instructor training is considered an asset rather than a requirement. Applicants need basic proficiency with Outlook, Teams, and Zoom for the program's online components, and must submit standard documentation including a passport photo, birth certificate, secondary diploma or transcript, CV, and proof of citizenship or residency.
