Commercial Cannabis Production is a one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate that trains students in the biology and cultural practices of cannabis cultivation, including plant nutrition, environmental controls, lighting, climate control, pest and disease management, and cultivar selection. Hands-on training takes place at an on-campus cultivation facility licensed by Health Canada, and students have the opportunity to complete an internship with a licensed producer. The programme prepares graduates for roles across Canada's licensed cannabis production industry and was recognized with the 2022 Grow Up Cannabis Education Award. Admission requires an Ontario College Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Horticulture, Greenhouse Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Plant Sciences, Biology or a related discipline, proof of English proficiency, and a minimum age of 19. Because the sector is federally regulated under the Cannabis Act, applicants must also pass a criminal record check to obtain the required security clearance.
