Trades - Apprenticeship in Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship

Automotive Service Technician is a Red Seal apprenticeship at Niagara College leading to a Certificate of Apprenticeship. Students develop diagnostic, repair and customer-service skills, learning to use industry-standard computerized diagnostic tools to service a wide range of vehicles. The programme combines 720 hours of in-class instruction across three levels with approximately four years of paid on-the-job training as a registered apprentice, delivered in small classes with experienced faculty in modern facilities. Completion of all three levels makes graduates eligible to write the Red Seal certification exam, recognized across Canada. Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or Grade 12 equivalency and employment in the trade with a sponsoring employer, as apprentices alternate between in-school training blocks at the college and paid work experience in an automotive shop. The majority of in-school tuition is subsidized by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The programme starts in the Fall.
