The Indigenous Language for Early Years Certificate prepares learners to support Indigenous language revitalization in early-childhood settings. The one-year, 27-credit programme combines two micro-credentials covering early-years pedagogy and ancestral-language instruction, teaching students to create culturally grounded learning experiences for young children. Delivery is full-time, offered both on campus and in community, with a Fall-term intake. Coursework covers child development fundamentals alongside language-immersion methods, equipping graduates to integrate an Indigenous language into everyday activities with preschool- and daycare-age children. Graduates may pursue roles such as Indigenous Early Childhood Education Assistant, Preschool or Daycare Language Support Worker, or Indigenous Language Mentor Apprentice, or continue into further Indigenous Early Childhood Education study. The programme is offered by Nicola Valley Institute of Technology as part of its Academic and Career Preparation offerings.
