The Indigenous Business program follows the Four Food Chiefs’ seasonal teachings, blending Traditional Knowledge with business education to foster holistic growth, cultural vitality, and sustainable, community-focused leadership.
It is designed to empower you with essential skills and knowledge to navigate the complex landscape of business within Indigenous contexts, with a particular emphasis on land governance and sustainable economic practices. Guided by Storywork, this two-year diploma program consists of 20 carefully curated courses deeply rooted in Community-led Indigenous Knowledge Systems. By integrating Indigenous teachings with contemporary business principles, this program equips learners with a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Indigenous Communities in the modern economy.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: The Indigenous Business Diploma requires Grade 12 graduation or equivalent, plus MATH 057 or Foundations of Math 11 (or an equivalent assessment) and ENGL 060 or English 12 (or an equivalent assessment), as stated on the programme page. No IELTS, TOEFL, or other standardized language-proficiency score is published for this programme; NVIT sets English-proficiency requirements per program rather than centrally, and none currently applies here. No interview, portfolio, age requirement, or criminal record check is listed. The two-to-three-year diploma is offered in the Fall Term. Applicants who fall short of the stated prerequisites are directed to the Department Coordinator or an NVIT Academic Planner regarding upgrading opportunities before admission.
