This five-week, full-time program at the Port Alberni campus introduces sustainable construction and manufacturing careers through entry-level carpentry orientation alongside safe hand- and power-tool use, worksite hazard recognition, imperial and metric measurement and calculation, compiling materials and supplies lists, and personal protective equipment practices, plus an overview of employer and worker health-and-safety responsibilities and basic project planning. No prior experience is required for domestic applicants, and completion pairs a statement of completion with recognized industry safety certifications, giving graduates a foothold in construction and manufacturing employment. The program is fully funded, with tuition and required program supplies and PPE covered at no cost to eligible domestic applicants. Its two core courses, Green Building Foundations and Manufacturing Health and Safety Essentials, combine classroom instruction with applied trades calculations and tool orientation.
