Offered by North Island College in Courtenay, Canada, Electrician Foundation Harmonized Certificate is a foundation in Trades programme. The programme runs for 24 weeks, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 2,300 per total for local students.
This certificate delivers Level 1 technical training credit toward Red Seal electrician certification as a foundation program for students without an employer sponsor. It runs full-time and in-person over 24 weeks at the Campbell River campus with a winter intake, and is approved by SkilledTradesBC as an entry pathway into the electrical trade. The single-level curriculum covers workplace safety, blueprint reading, and wiring methods for residential and light commercial construction, giving students the foundational knowledge and workplace-hour credit needed before registering as an apprentice. Because no sponsoring employer is required to enrol, the program suits domestic students seeking their first formal exposure to the electrical trade, including those trying to improve their chances of securing an apprenticeship placement; admission gives priority to Indigenous applicants. Graduates carry their Level 1 credit and accumulated work-based hours forward into a registered apprenticeship, continuing through the remaining technical-training levels toward Interprovincial Red Seal certification as an electrician. It functions as an entry point into the trade rather than a stand-alone occupational credential.

Admission Requirements: Admission requires C+ in English 11 (or equivalent, or a successful English assessment) and C+ in one of Principles of Math 11, Foundations of Math 11, Pre-Calculus 11, NIC MAT 053 or NIC MAT 055 (or a successful math assessment). High-school graduation is preferred but not required once the stated prerequisites are otherwise met.
