Requirements
Admission Requirements: Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship is a sponsored apprenticeship regulated by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) rather than a direct academic admission through NAIT. To register as an apprentice, applicants must be a resident of, or primarily working in, Alberta, and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, protected person, refugee claimant with a work permit, or otherwise eligible under AIT's apprentice eligibility policy, plus have (or be actively seeking) an on-the-job sponsorship agreement with an employer; NAIT allows classroom instruction to begin before a sponsor is found. AIT's entrance requirement to attend classroom instruction in this trade (Category B) is successful completion of English 20-2, Math 20-3 and Science 10, or a pass mark in all five GED/CAEC tests, or NAIT's Entrance Exam; an existing trade certificate can also satisfy it. Neither NAIT nor AIT states an English-test score requirement for this route.

Application Deadline:NAIT does not publish fixed closing dates: domestic applications for Fall 2027 entry open 1 October 2026, Winter 2027 entry opens 1 March 2026, and Spring 2027 entry opens 1 June 2026, each staying open at least one month and then continuing until the program and waitlist are full or, where seats remain, until the term begins. International applicants follow the same rule but open earlier -- 1 August 2026 for Fall, 1 January 2026 for Winter, and 1 April 2026 for Spring. NAIT names no external application service; students apply directly at nait.ca. Admission is effectively rolling, and NAIT advises applying as early as possible since program status can change quickly with demand. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
