Overview
Automotive Service Technology is a two-year, on-campus diploma that trains students in vehicle diagnostics, repair and maintenance alongside the business-oriented and communication skills used in the automotive trade. Training takes place in NAIT's garages and labs on real vehicles using industry-standard equipment. Students learn to diagnose vehicle systems, repair and maintain vehicles, select and use diagnostic and repair tools and equipment, describe and discuss automotive systems and component operation, identify safety hazards and comply with relevant legislation, and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues. Program content and structure align with the Alberta Credential Framework. Intakes run in Fall, Winter and Spring. Graduates are prepared for roles in the automotive service industry, including positions as technicians, service advisors and managers at dealerships and autobody shops.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires Grade 11 Language Arts (English 20-2), Grade 11 Mathematics (Math 20-3), Grade 10 Science (Science 10), and proof of English Language Proficiency. No competitive or minimum admission average is published. NAIT's Academic Upgrading Placement Tests in English or Math may be used in place of the Grade 11 English or Math requirement.
