Advanced Carpentry Technology is a two-year, in-person diploma providing an alternative pathway into the carpentry trade without first registering as an apprentice. The program combines theory with hands-on training in the materials and processes used to construct, renovate and repair residential and commercial buildings and structures. Students also explore emerging technologies, including high-performance energy-efficient building systems and trade-related software. Training follows a full-time weekday schedule and prepares graduates for work across the construction industry. Applicants with a Canadian Journeyperson Certificate in an approved construction trade, such as electrician, plumber or welder, may qualify through an alternative entrance pathway, and students interested in pursuing an apprenticeship afterward may need additional assessments through Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT), depending on the trade and apprenticeship stream chosen.
