Overview
This four-month certificate trains students in the care and management of trees within urban and community landscapes. Delivered on-campus with Fall and Winter intakes, it is described by the college as the only program of its kind in Alberta. Instruction is led by industry-trained arborists and covers tree biology, ground and aerial operations, pruning techniques, and tree risk assessment, with hands-on practice in the college's Landscape Pavilion. Students build the technical and safety skills required for aerial tree work and urban forestry roles. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must have 50% or better in English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2, 50% or better in Math 20-1 or 20-2, 50% or better in two of Biology 20, Chemistry 20 or Science 20 (or one of Biology 30, Chemistry 30 or Science 30), and must meet the college's English Language Proficiency requirement. An alternate admission option is available for applicants who do not meet the academic requirements, requiring transcripts, a letter of intent, a resume and optional references.
