The PhD in Forensic Psychology at Ontario Tech University integrates specialized forensic psychology study with training in research methodology and applied learning, preparing graduates for research-focused careers rather than clinical practice. Graduates pursue roles in law enforcement behavioural science units, academia, trial consulting, correctional facilities, mental health institutions and government administration. The programme admits students by two routes: a post-master's route for applicants holding a thesis-based Master's degree in Forensic Psychology or a related field such as experimental psychology, neuroscience or criminology, and a direct-entry route for applicants holding a four-year undergraduate degree in Psychology or a related field. Both routes require a minimum A-minus academic standing. Instruction is delivered in-class at Ontario Tech's Downtown Oshawa campus, with a single intake each September and tuition charged at the university's flat annual doctoral rate.
