BA/BS in Biochemistry

The Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at Redeemer University is an honours major examining the molecular structure and function of biomolecules, including nucleic acids, proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates. The curriculum addresses current developments in the field alongside related ethical and philosophical questions. Students work in small classes and gain hands-on laboratory experience with professional-grade equipment from first year, with opportunities to take part in faculty-led research, including in a dedicated pathogen research lab for senior students' final-year projects. The program incorporates Redeemer's core curriculum of ten courses alongside major requirements, and students may take part in field trips and summer research positions. A mathematics or environmental studies minor is recommended to ensure all course requirements can be completed within four years. Graduates pursue careers in scientific research and related fields or continue to graduate study.
