Overview
This program leads to a Master of Applied Science in Civil Engineering at the Royal Military College of Canada, offered by the Department of Civil Engineering. It is a thesis-based graduate degree normally comprised of five term courses at the graduate level plus a thesis, normally requiring two academic years including the intervening summer when pursued full-time in the residential programme; candidates with a weaker mathematics background may be required to complete an additional mathematics course. Graduate research and coursework cover structural, geotechnical, and environmental engineering, including advanced geotechnical design, strengthening and repair of concrete structures, advanced reinforced concrete design, bridge engineering, and water and wastewater treatment processes, with a joint environmental engineering specialty offered with the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. All students must complete a zero-credit academic integrity course (AI500) by the end of their first term. The program is delivered on campus at RMC's Kingston site and is open to both military and civilian applicants.
