Overview
Delivered through a blend of online courses and a single two-week on-campus residency, this diploma examines what justice means across different societies, organizations, and disciplines. Students take one nine-week online course at a time, followed by a two-week break, at roughly 20 hours of work per week, and the program opens with a required non-credit course on academic integrity. Students, often drawn from government, policing, military, and non-profit backgrounds, build skills in systemic thinking, critical analysis, and research that prepare them for roles in community justice services, policy research, or corrections. Students may also switch into the related two-year Master of Arts program while still enrolled in the diploma, with credits transferring directly and the master's-level degree awarded instead of the diploma.

Admission Requirements: Standard admission requires a four-year (or comparable) undergraduate degree in a relevant and related field, with a minimum GPA of 'B+' (3.33/4.33). Applicants who hold the required degree but fall below the GPA threshold may qualify through flexible admission with a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience; applicants without an undergraduate degree need ten years of work experience, including at least two years in a leadership or management position, and are normally required to complete the non-credit Academic Writing and Critical Thinking course before starting. The programme page defers non-native English speakers to Royal Roads' institution-wide requirement: for graduate-level entry, IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in writing and speaking and 6.0 in listening and reading, or TOEFL iBT 88 overall with a minimum of 24 in writing and 20 in listening, reading and speaking. Applicants must also submit official transcripts from all institutions attended, two letters of reference, a personal statement addressing five set questions, and a structured résumé; international applicants require a credential evaluation.

RRU consistently closes a programme's application exactly three calendar months before that programme's own intake start date — a September 2027 intake typically closes 7 June 2027 — though a few programmes (the Master of Global Management, for example) use a six-month lead instead. Each programme lists its own upcoming intakes, running from 2026 into 2028 depending on the programme, and RRU says it may still accept a late application if space and processing time remain, but it publishes no separate international deadline and no institution-wide equal-consideration or rolling policy. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
