Certificate in Forensic Sciences

The Certificate in Forensic Sciences complements a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree at Saint Mary's University, exposing students to the intersection of scientific disciplines used in forensic investigation. Students progress through the program as a cohort, learning from faculty researchers and outside field experts, with an emphasis on critical thinking and the science behind the analysis of physical evidence. The certificate requires 24 credit hours of required and elective courses in addition to 15 credit hours of prerequisites. Admission is open to current BSc or BA students at Saint Mary's with a declared major, a minimum CGPA of 3.00, and at least 30 credit hours completed by the end of the winter semester of the application year. Applicants submit a one-to-two-page personal statement along with a completed Change of Degree or Program form; the application deadline is May 1 each year, with admission decisions made by the Program Coordinator following an annual review.
