This two-year diploma from SAIT specializes in planning and delivering events, from large conventions to smaller private functions. Coursework covers guest experience management, sales and marketing strategy, leadership, contracts and event operations, project planning and costing, and negotiating with stakeholders and industry partners. Students also build broader hospitality competencies in communication, problem solving and customer service, in small class sizes, and complete a capstone project planning a large-scale event. In the first semester, students complete WHMIS, food safety, ProServe and hospitality and tourism awareness certifications, and between the first and second year they complete a 400-hour internship at an industry worksite such as a hotel, restaurant, tour operator or resort. Delivery is in person at SAIT's Main Campus. The program accepts international applicants but does not currently meet Post-Graduation Work Permit eligibility requirements. Beginning in the 2026/27 academic year, new applicants to SAIT's Hospitality and Tourism Management diploma apply through a multi-disciplinary stream rather than this standalone specialization.
