Overview
The Accounting certificate is a one-year, full-time program at SAIT's School of Business, with up to five academic years permitted for part-time completion. It covers full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and core business management skills through coursework combined with work-integrated learning projects. The program is delivered in-person at Main Campus or online, with class sizes capped at 40 students and workloads of 9 to 12 hours per week per course. Graduates are prepared for roles in accounting, bookkeeping, and business administration support across a range of organizations. Credit earned in this certificate can be applied toward up to nine courses of SAIT's Business Administration diploma or Bachelor of Business Administration degree, giving graduates a pathway into further credentials. On completion, graduates receive a SAIT Accounting certificate.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants educated in Canada must demonstrate English language proficiency and complete one of the following courses or equivalents: at least 50% in Math 30-1 or Math 30-2, or at least 50% in SAIT BMAT 230 Business Mathematics; SAIT accepts high school course equivalents for applicants educated outside Alberta. Applicants educated outside of Canada must demonstrate English language proficiency and provide an international document assessment confirming they meet the program's admission requirements.
