Trades - Apprenticeship in Cabinetmaker

This four-year Red Seal Endorsed apprenticeship, delivered in person at SAIT's Main Campus through the School of Construction, trains apprentices to build and repair custom and production fixtures and furniture made of wood and wood substitutes, using both manual and CNC machinery. Each of the four 12-month periods requires eight weeks of classroom instruction at SAIT plus a minimum of 1,360 hours of on-the-job training under a sponsoring employer, alternating workplace practice with time on campus. Graduates earn journeyperson status and an advanced diploma through Alberta's Apprenticeship and Industry Training, credentialed through the School of Construction. The program does not accept international applicants; apprentices must be Alberta residents (or primarily work in the province) and hold Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, refugee status, or a valid CUAET visa.
