SAIT's Automotive Service Technology diploma is a two-year, full-time program that prepares students for careers in vehicle maintenance, diagnosis, and repair. Guided by industry-experienced instructors, students learn automotive maintenance and repair procedures, study manufacturer specifications, develop customer service and communication skills, and work on actual vehicles to gain real-world experience. Graduates are eligible to challenge Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training's Automotive Service Technician periods one through four exams, advancing them toward journeyperson certification, and may pursue apprenticeships, service advisor roles, or eventual specialization in engines, driveability, electrical systems, chassis systems, wheel alignment, or automatic transmissions. Some students progress into management positions such as shop foreman or service manager. Classes are delivered in person at SAIT's Main Campus, and the program includes a practicum component in the second year.
