General Arts is a two-semester (one-year) Ontario College Certificate at Seneca Polytechnic offering general education credits that apply toward other Seneca programs. The certificate includes career counselling to help students explore academic and career fields and prepare for admission to career-specific postsecondary study; some students complete it in a single semester rather than the full year. It also serves students who have withdrawn from another program and want to continue studying while deciding on a new direction. The program is offered in-person at the Newnham Campus and Seneca@York, and online, with intakes in September, January and May. Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or acceptance as a mature applicant, along with Grade 12 English at the C or U level or an equivalent course; Canadian citizens and permanent residents may also satisfy the English requirement through Seneca's pre-admission testing. International applicants must meet the same requirements plus Seneca's English-language proficiency standards, and may be asked for additional documents or assessments.
