Cert in Personal Support Worker (Hybrid)

Admission Requirements: DOMESTIC ACADEMIC ENTRY: an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or mature-applicant status, plus English at Grade 12 C or U (or an equivalent course). Canadian citizens and permanent residents may meet the English requirement through Seneca's pre-admission test. Before clinical practicum you need a completed Clinical Preparedness Permit. Medical side: immunisation records matching the Canadian Immunization Guide for health-care workers, bloodwork showing immune status for hepatitis B, varicella, measles, mumps and rubella, and TB testing or a chest X-ray where required. Non-medical side: a Basic Life Support certificate renewed each year, Standard First Aid valid for four years (online courses are not accepted), a mask fit-test record renewed every two years, and a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening renewed annually. Placements sit in agencies across the Greater Toronto Area, can run six, 10 or 12 hours, some starting at 6 a.m., may include evenings and weekends, and students arrange their own transport. International applicants must present credentials assessed as equivalent to the Ontario prerequisites above and meet Seneca's certificate/diploma English standard: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no skill under 5.5, PTE Academic 58, CAEL 60, Duolingo 105-110, Cambridge English 169 with no skill under 162, or TOEFL iBT with no skill under 4/6 (20/30). Tests must be less than two years old.
