Trades - Apprenticeship in Construction and Maintenance Electrician

Construction and Maintenance Electrician is an in-school apprenticeship training program delivered across three levels. Level 1 covers the Canadian Electrical Code, drawings and specifications fundamentals, communication and documentation, electrical fundamentals, trade practices, and installation and maintenance methods. Level 2 builds on this with the Canadian Electrical Code II, intermediate drawings and specifications, communication and monitoring systems, electronic fundamentals, electrical systems, and motor controls and devices. Level 3 covers the Canadian Electrical Code III, advanced drawings and specifications, instrumentation, power electronics, electrical theory and applications, renewable energy generating and storage systems, and PLC fundamentals. Training takes place in facilities equipped with industry-standard equipment, with instruction from journeyperson instructors. Admission requires that applicants be employed in the appropriate skills sector and registered as an apprentice with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Sheridan is also a Ministry-approved Apprenticeship Exemption Test centre for both apprentices and non-apprentices.
