Trades - Apprenticeship in Construction Electrician

The Construction Electrician program is a four-year apprenticeship, with Saskatchewan Polytechnic delivering the required in-school technical training portion under contract to the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC). Apprentices are already employed in the trade and gain most of their skills through on-the-job training under a certified journeyperson, supplemented by in-school technical training delivered at the Moose Jaw, Prince Albert and Regina campuses, covering theory, testing and hands-on experience. Each year of the program includes eight weeks of in-school technical training. To enter the apprenticeship, an individual signs a contract of apprenticeship with a sponsoring employer, which is then registered with SATCC; SATCC schedules all apprenticeship training. Upon successful completion of all four levels of technical training and the required on-the-job hours, apprentices are eligible to write the examination to become a certified journeyperson in the Construction Electrician trade.
