BA/BS in Performance Studies

The Certificate in Performance Studies at Simon Fraser University is offered by the Department of English in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. It gives students an opportunity to complement their B.A. and pursue interdisciplinary work through the methods and perspectives of performance studies, examining the scripted and performed character of human action through critical analysis. The certificate requires a minimum of 26 units: three required courses from the performance studies core, two upper-level electives, and three additional elective courses, with no more than four courses counted from any one department. Before formal enrolment, candidates must complete two of the following courses: ENGL 113W (Literature and Performance), CA 118 (Contemporary Art History), GSWS 100 or 101, or SA 101 (Introduction to Anthropology).
