Actuarial Science: Master of Science (MSc) is a master's degree in Actuarial Science programme taught at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, Canada. The programme runs for 5 semesters, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 2,193 per semester (CAD 2,193 per semester for local students).
SFU's MSc in Actuarial Science, run by the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, pairs training in fundamental statistical methods with their application to actuarial problems. Students combine graduate coursework with a supervised research project that is written up and defended; those entering from SFU's own actuarial undergraduate stream carry a reduced total course load. Well-prepared students complete the coursework in about four terms, with up to two further terms for the project and its defence. Co-operative education placements are available from the summer term onward rather than in the first two semesters. Graduates move into actuarial work in industry, consulting and government, or on to doctoral study.
