Program details

Overview

A two-year MA built around a required Research Design sequence, breadth courses taken outside the student's own specialization, and participation in area research seminars throughout the program. Students choose a research area - such as Clinical Science, Developmental Psychology, Law and Forensic Psychology, or Social Psychology - and complete a thesis proposal by the end of year one and a defended thesis by the end of year two, with satisfactory progress opening the door to later apply for the PhD.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 3.00 / 4.33
Admission Requirements: The department's Admissions page states requirements shared by its graduate programs: an undergraduate major or honours degree in psychology, research experience is highly recommended, and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 is needed for consideration though applicants below 3.5 are described as unlikely to be accepted. International applicants need Duolingo 135 with no subscore below 115, IELTS Academic 7.5 with no section below 7.0, TOEFL iBT 110, Cambridge English 190, PTE Academic 75, or CAEL 80, valid no more than two years. The GRE is explicitly not required and should not be submitted. Three academic references are required, and the program admits once a year for a fall (September) start; the overall psychology graduate program deadline is 1 December.
