Overview

Business and Psychology is a joint major offered by the Beedie School of Business and the Department of Psychology in SFU's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, combining business management and organizational skills with the scientific study of human behaviour. Students complete a minimum of 120 units, including at least 45 upper-division units, of which at least 30 must be completed at SFU, and graduate with either a Bachelor of Arts from Arts and Social Sciences or a Bachelor of Business Administration from Beedie. Declaring the Psychology side requires completion of PSYC 100, PSYC 102 and PSYC 201W (with a grade of C or better in PSYC 201W) plus one statistics course chosen from BUS 232, PSYC 210 or STAT 270. Students admitted through the Business side must maintain a minimum 2.30 overall SFU Business course grade point average for entry into 300- and 400-division business courses and for graduation from the programme.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants must separately qualify for admission to both the Business and Psychology components of the joint major. For the Business side, applicants must have completed at least 24 units (at least 12 at SFU) with a minimum C- grade in the required prerequisite courses, and admission is competitive: meeting minimum grade point average requirements does not guarantee admission. For the Psychology side, students must complete PSYC 100, PSYC 102 and PSYC 201W (with at least a C grade in PSYC 201W) plus one statistics course (BUS 232, PSYC 210 or STAT 270).
