Overview
The Advanced Professional Studies in Education Graduate Diploma is built from 500-level EDPR courses spanning curriculum development, educational practice and collaborative inquiry, with a minimum of 30 units and no transfer credit accepted from other institutions or programs. Cohorts typically progress through the diploma together at off-campus sites, delivered in partnership with other educational organizations, and are expected to finish within six terms. Admission calls for a bachelor's degree plus a teaching certificate from a recognized teacher-preparation program and evidence of readiness for advanced professional study, though applicants who lack the standard credentials may still be considered if they can show superior scholarly or professional achievement.
Requirements
Minimum GPA:2.50 / 4.33
Admission Requirements: Admission requires a bachelor's degree from a recognized university, a teaching certificate based on a recognized teacher-preparation program, and submitted evidence of the applicant's ability to undertake advanced work in education. Applicants must otherwise satisfy the University's general admission standard for a graduate diploma under Graduate General Regulation 1.3.5: a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5/4.33, or at least 2.67/4.33 (B-) calculated on the final 60 undergraduate units, together with references supporting readiness for advanced study. In exceptional circumstances, applicants who fall short of these formal qualifications may still be considered where superior scholarly or professional achievement is demonstrated. No programme-specific English-language test score is published; SFU's general graduate policy of IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (6.0 per section) or TOEFL 90 overall (20 per section) applies to non-native English speakers.
