Overview

This diploma suits students curious about a wide range of areas, including modern thought and culture, Renaissance humanism, eastern and western religions, and classical and medieval studies. Crossing disciplinary boundaries, it develops skills in posing questions and addressing concerns central to understanding the human condition.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: The Global Humanities post-baccalaureate diploma is open to applicants who have already completed a bachelor's degree; the calendar entry does not add a separate GPA threshold, standardized language-test score, portfolio or interview requirement on top of that credential. Admission proceeds through Simon Fraser University's standard application channel for the diploma, and prospective students are directed to consult the global humanities advisor before applying so their prior coursework can be mapped against the diploma's structure: a minimum of 30 upper-division or graduate units, including at least 16 units in Humanities (HUM), completed after the bachelor's degree. Neither the diploma page nor the linked Department of Global Humanities page publishes numeric GPA, IELTS, TOEFL or other test-score requirements; applicants should confirm current figures directly with the advisor before applying.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through EducationPlannerBC, with one set of dates per applicant type rather than by citizenship. Fall 2027 entry: high-school-route applications open 1 October 2026 and close 31 January 2027, while transfer applications open 1 March 2027 and close 15 April 2027 (Education and Contemporary Arts transfer applicants may apply from 1 October 2026). Spring 2027 entry runs 1 July to 15 September 2026, and Summer 2027 entry runs 1 December 2026 to 15 January 2027. Admission documents are generally due 28 February 2027 (Fall) and offers must be accepted by 1 May. International applicants use the same EducationPlannerBC dates and portal; SFU publishes no separate international deadline. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
