Overview
The Native Community Worker Diploma is a two-year Ontario College Diploma delivered on campus at Anishinabek Educational Institute locations, in partnership with St. Clair College. The programme integrates Indigenous culture and traditional healing methods with coursework in community and social service work, preparing graduates to support individuals and families in Indigenous communities. Students develop skills in counselling approaches, case management, crisis response, and the mental and spiritual aspects of caregiving, alongside academic study of Indigenous history, culture and community development. The programme includes field placements, for which a police record check with vulnerable sector screening is required. Support for Indigenous learners includes access to an Indigenous counsellor as part of the programme's student services. Graduates are prepared for front-line roles with Indigenous social service agencies, community organizations, healing centres and government agencies.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with the majority of courses at the College (C), University (U), University/College (M) or Open (O) level.
