Overview

This two-year diploma builds the knowledge, fitness and aptitudes needed for a law-enforcement career, developing communication, ethical and interpersonal skills on a strong theoretical foundation. Coursework covers community policing, police procedures, and the fundamentals of investigation techniques used in policing, suited to community-minded students of good moral character with strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to handle stressful situations, and a good level of physical fitness.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Advanced-entry requirement: successful completion of two consecutive semesters of St. Clair's Protection, Security and Investigation program, or a Protection, Security and Investigation diploma (mature applicants should see the college's general Admission Procedures for alternatives). Students train to meet minimum standards for the PREP Test and the Ontario Police Fitness Award, so applicants should assess their physical readiness before enrolling. Domestic applicants apply via Ontario Colleges (ontariocolleges.ca); international applicants via International OCAS.

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for programmes starting in Fall 2027 the online application opened on 26 September 2026, the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, colleges may start sending offers from 1 November 2026, and accepted offers are due by 1 May 2027; Winter 2027 entry has an equal-consideration date of 15 September 2026. St. Clair flags eight oversubscribed programmes and thirteen high-interest programmes for which it recommends applying by 1 February. After the equal-consideration dates, applications are assessed first-come, first-served while seats remain. International applicants apply through the International OCAS portal and are admitted on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis; St. Clair publishes no fixed international closing date. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
