Overview
The Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) program is an academic based program. It is a two-year certificate program designed for adults with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries or other significant learning challenges who wish to further their education/vocational training in a community college setting. CICE students will have the opportunity to complete an individualized CICE program of study including courses from a minimum of two or more areas of concentration selected from St. Lawrence College’s program offerings. Each semester, students will take 5 courses, each 3-4 hours in length. A Learning Specialist attends elective classes with students to support their academic needs. Elective course choices may depend on seat availability and program suitability.

Admission Requirements: St. Lawrence College's Community Integration Through Co-Operative Education (CICE) admits applicants holding an Ontario Secondary School Certificate, an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, a Certificate of Accomplishment, an equivalent, or mature-student status, who can document an academic need for curriculum modification (e.g. an IEP, an Alternative Education Plan, or a psychological assessment). Selection also weighs the applicant's ability to function independently on campus without constant support, communicate and self-regulate consistently, participate safely in programming, attend classes and placement shifts, use required technology (a Windows laptop; tablets, Chromebooks and Macbooks are unsuitable), and access transportation to campus and placements; workplace experience is considered an asset. Shortlisted applicants attend an in-person interview and skills assessment, and the college states that completing the selection process does not guarantee admission.
