Overview
The Business diploma at St. Lawrence College's Kingston campus is a two-year, four-semester Ontario College Diploma built on a foundation of marketing, human resources and accounting, with flexible start dates in January, May or September. The first year follows the college's '7-1-7' model, in which students take three courses over seven weeks, a one-week block for professional development and academic advising, and then three further courses over another seven weeks. Coursework develops technical skills such as data analysis and business intelligence, global business practices, sustainable business practices and MS Office proficiency, alongside project management, leadership and communication abilities. In the fourth semester, students choose between two capstone options: a work placement (WORK 40) with an organization, or a business consulting project with a community partner (ADMN 2005). Graduates who want to continue their studies can transfer directly into the third year of the related three-year advanced diploma. The program suits students seeking a broad, well-integrated business education leading to entry-level positions in public or private sector organizations, as well as those considering starting their own business.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: St. Lawrence College's Business diploma requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with the majority of Grade 11 and 12 courses at the C, U or M level, including Grade 12 English at the C or U level and Grade 11 Math at the C, U or M level. Applicants missing a prerequisite may enroll in the college's Career/College Prep program, free for Ontario residents aged 18 or older, and those with transcripts from outside Canada are directed to the college's transcript-evaluation process. The program page does not state its own language-proficiency scores; applicants whose first language is not English are assessed against St. Lawrence College's institution-wide scale for Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall (no band below 5.5), TOEFL iBT 4 overall (78 under the pre-January-2026 scale), PTE Academic 55, CAEL 60, or Duolingo 110 (no sub-score below 85).
