Overview

Based on the skills and knowledge gained in Lifestyle Management 1 and 2, this course centers on the practical application of physical occupational requirements. Students apply the fitness concepts both learned and experienced to develop and improve the physical components of fitness related to the occupational field of law enforcement. Students are exposed to a variety of physical evaluations used in law enforcement including the PREP and PARE. In addition, students develop a better understanding of stress and its influence on officer performance and mental health. Through practical applications, theory, and self-evaluation, students identify the physiological response of the human body to stress and the impact it has on fitness, job performance, decision-making, and individual wellness.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with the majority of Grade 11/12 courses at the C, U or M level, including Grade 12 English (C or U). Students missing prerequisites may enroll in the Career/College Prep program. A criminal background check is mandatory for policing-agency learning activities; applicants should also confirm they can meet the physical and mental health Essential Hiring Requirements of their target police service.

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for programmes starting September 2027 the application opens 26 September 2026, the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, and later applications are assessed first-come, first-served while seats remain; St. Lawrence College names Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Communicative Disorders Assistant, Medical Laboratory Science and Practical Nursing as highly competitive, requiring transcripts and proof of enrolment by the same 1 February date to be ranked. International applicants apply through SLC's own International Application Service and are assessed on a rolling basis; the college publishes no fixed international closing date, and each Letter of Acceptance carries its own accept-and-pay deadline. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
