Overview
The Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Integrated Engineering focuses on a broad, non-specialized engineering education. Rather than earning a degree in one specific area of engineering, you will gain background in core areas such as materials, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and systems involving chemical, electro-mechanical, and biological components. In addition to the core, you may select 18 credits of technical electives to explore your interests further. The program emphasizes engineering design through design project courses taken in each term that will prepare you for a career in the engineering field.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: UBC's own admission page for Integrated Engineering gives International Baccalaureate-specific prerequisites: IB Math Analysis and Approaches at SL or HL, or IB Math Applications and Interpretations at HL, plus IB Chemistry and IB Physics; an academically strong candidate missing either IB Chemistry or IB Physics may still be evaluated case by case. For Canadian secondary-school applicants the applicable standard is UBC's published Bachelor of Applied Science (Engineering) requirement: English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12, Pre-Calculus 12, Chemistry 12, and Physics 12. UBC publishes no institution-wide entry average, since each program competes against its own applicant pool. All applicants must meet UBC's English Language Admission Standard: IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT overall 90 with a Writing minimum of 21, PTE Academic overall 65 with a minimum of 60 per skill, or Duolingo English Test overall 125. No portfolio or interview is described.
Application Details
Start Date:September 2027 - entry is to UBC's Winter Session, which runs September 2027 to April 2028 (Term 1 September to December, Term 2 January to April). UBC also runs a Summer Session from May to August, but not every degree admits to it.
Application Deadline:Apply by 15 January 2027, 11:59 p.m. PST, for September 2027 entry (Winter Session 2027/28) - this is UBC's university-wide undergraduate deadline and it is the same date for Canadian and international applicants, not a date set by this program. The online application opens in early October 2026 through EducationPlannerBC. Earlier dates apply only to major entrance awards: 15 November 2026 for international applicants (UBC International Scholars Program) and 1 December 2026 for Canadian citizens and permanent residents (Presidential Scholars, UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance and Beyond Tomorrow Scholars). UBC advises applying by the deadline because some programs stop accepting applications on that date; later applications may be considered but are not given the same priority. Document deadlines (transcripts, English-language evidence) are issued to each applicant in the Applicant Service Centre after applying.
