Overview
The Master of Science (MSc) in Physiology is offered by the Department of Physiology at the University of Toronto, with research spanning the gene to the whole-organism level in areas including endocrinology, reproduction, cardiorespiratory regulation and brain development. Delivered in person over six full-time sessions (Fall-Winter-Spring, repeated), the program combines graduate coursework with faculty-supervised original research, culminating in a thesis that is presented and defended orally. Admission requires a bachelor's degree with a minimum A- average in the final two years of study, together with prerequisite coursework in biology, biochemistry, calculus, chemistry, physics and physiology, an essay describing the applicant's background and scientific aims, a curriculum vitae and two confidential references. Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency, for example through the TOEFL iBT, with a minimum overall score of 5.0 out of 6.0, including at least 4.5 in writing and 4.0 in speaking.
