Overview

The Adventure Guide Certificate allows you to explore a career in adventure-related fields. This program combines classroom instruction with courses in wilderness travel, canoeing, rock climbing, mountaineering, whitewater kayaking and more. Your Adventure Guide Certificate credits count towards completion of an Adventure Guide Diploma or degree concentration.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: REQUIREMENTS: you must be 19 years of age at the start of the program; English Studies 12 or the TRU equivalent, which is ESAL 0570 taken with ESAL 0580, or else ENGL 0600 or ENGL 0601; and Mathematics 11 or equivalent. ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS: the program information package; a cover letter covering your adventure activity experience, your five-year education and career plan, why you want to attend the program and how it will help you meet your goals; a resume; two reference letters; outdoor experience log sheets; and an information form. You must also attend a program information session. TRU lists the certificate as open to international applicants.

Application Deadline: No separate date is published for this program, so TRU's general undergraduate deadlines apply. Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents): 1 May for the September (Fall) intake. International applicants are given the same date for the September intake on TRU's separate international deadline page: 1 May. Applications for most programs open 1 October. A deadline falling on a weekend or statutory holiday moves to the next working day, and TRU keeps accepting applications after the date where space remains, though high-volume programs can close early.
