Overview

The Tourism Management Diploma explore your options that gives you a good sampling of the specialties you can take in Tourism Management. You will gain the necessary skills to provide quality tourist experiences, develop and manage tourism businesses with entrepreneurial spirit, and contribute to community development in a manner that is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. Students enrolled in Bachelor of Tourism Management who wish to exit the program upon completion of Year 2 can apply for this diploma.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Domestic entry requires Grade 12 completion or mature-student status, English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 at a minimum of 73% (or TRU's ESAL 0570 and 0580, or ENGL 0600/0601, in its place), and Foundations of Mathematics 11, Pre-Calculus 11, or Foundations of Mathematics 12 at a minimum C; a C+ or higher in Pre-Calculus 12 or Foundations of Mathematics 12 exempts a student from MATH 1100. The diploma page does not publish its own standardized English test score, so international applicants are held to Thompson Rivers University's general undergraduate threshold: IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 88 with no section below 20. Applicants short of a requirement may qualify for the Flexible Entry pathway, completing missing prerequisites during their first credits. Intakes run in September and May.

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) apply directly to TRU: for the September (Fall) intake the deadline is 1 May, for January (Winter) it is 1 September, and for the May (Summer) intake it is 1 January; applications for most programs open 1 October, and a deadline falling on a weekend or statutory holiday moves to the next working day. International applicants follow the same intake structure with deadlines of 1 May (September), 1 October (January) and 1 February (May); TRU still reviews later applications where space remains, though high-volume programs can close early, so admission runs on a rolling basis around these published cut-offs for the 2027 entry cycle. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
