Hotel & Restaurant Management is a second-year diploma major completed after the first year of Red River College Polytechnic's Hospitality and Tourism Management program, at Winnipeg campus locations. The major develops management-level skills for the food and beverage and accommodation sectors of the tourism industry through classroom and lab-based coursework, including Advanced Restaurant Service delivered at Jane's restaurant, Wine, Human Resources Management, Marketing, and Rooms Management. The courses are taught from a management perspective, building on the industry-introduction and core skills students gain in the shared first year. The program concludes with Hospitality Simulation, a capstone course in which students work in teams to resolve a variety of case studies, drawing on their academic and work-experience background from previous terms. Classes may be scheduled between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.
