Program details

Overview

The advanced diploma is designed for those who already hold post-secondary diplomas and at least two years of work experience. Study centres on applied work with real-world cases, carried out both independently and collaboratively. Graduates develop a skill set intended to support starting an entrepreneurial venture or taking on more senior management responsibility.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Entry to the Advanced Diploma in Management requires completion of at least 60 credits of post-secondary study together with two years of relevant work or volunteer experience; applicants short of the formal-credit total may instead seek a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) evaluation of their experiential learning. Introductory financial accounting and introductory marketing courses are required as prerequisites or corequisites, and at least nine of the credits counted toward the diploma must be completed through Thompson Rivers University. The programme's own page states no language-test requirement; Thompson Rivers University's general standard for direct entry into an undergraduate diploma is IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 88 with no section below 20, as published on TRU's international English-requirements page. No intake dates are published on the programme page.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) apply directly to TRU: for the September (Fall) intake the deadline is 1 May, for January (Winter) it is 1 September, and for the May (Summer) intake it is 1 January; applications for most programs open 1 October, and a deadline falling on a weekend or statutory holiday moves to the next working day. International applicants follow the same intake structure with deadlines of 1 May (September), 1 October (January) and 1 February (May); TRU still reviews later applications where space remains, though high-volume programs can close early, so admission runs on a rolling basis around these published cut-offs for the 2027 entry cycle. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
