Requirements

Admission Requirements: Thompson Rivers University's Open Learning Certificate in Business Skills admits on an open-admission basis: the program page states no required high-school courses, minimum grades, GPA threshold, or English-proficiency test score for entry. Once enrolled, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.00 across the 15 credits required for the certificate, Professional and Academic Composition (CMNS 1811), Management Information Systems (MIST 2611), and nine further elective credits from 1000- or 2000-level business or economics courses, and complete a minimum of six TRU credits (distance or on-campus) for residency, a completion standard rather than an admission bar. As an Open Learning program, TRU's on-campus secondary-graduation and mature-student bases and its IELTS/TOEFL direct-entry minimums do not apply. No portfolio, interview, or work-experience condition is published.

Application Details

Start Date: Ongoing
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) apply directly to TRU: for the September (Fall) intake the deadline is 1 May, for January (Winter) it is 1 September, and for the May (Summer) intake it is 1 January; applications for most programs open 1 October, and a deadline falling on a weekend or statutory holiday moves to the next working day. International applicants follow the same intake structure with deadlines of 1 May (September), 1 October (January) and 1 February (May); TRU still reviews later applications where space remains, though high-volume programs can close early, so admission runs on a rolling basis around these published cut-offs for the 2027 entry cycle. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
