Program details

Overview

The diploma is open to those who already hold a degree outside business and commerce, offering a choice among six concentrations covering marketing, leadership, human resources, finance, accounting and general management. Grounding is built in commercial law, economics, management and accounting, developing conceptual, people-management and decision-making abilities that cut across these areas.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Thompson Rivers University's Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Commerce requires a recognised baccalaureate degree in a field other than business. The program page does not publish an entry GPA or standardized English-test score; instead it sets completion standards once enrolled, a minimum GPA of 2.00 (grade C) across core-knowledge and elective courses rising to 2.33 (grade C+) or higher specifically in concentration courses, plus a residency requirement of at least nine TRU credits (distance or on-campus). Applicants whose prior coursework is equivalent to required diploma courses must complete alternative coursework approved by Open Learning instead of repeating content. No portfolio, interview, work-experience, or age condition is published on the page. As an Open Learning credential, admission is not gated by TRU's on-campus secondary-graduation bases or its IELTS/TOEFL direct-entry minimums.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) apply directly to TRU: for the September (Fall) intake the deadline is 1 May, for January (Winter) it is 1 September, and for the May (Summer) intake it is 1 January; applications for most programs open 1 October, and a deadline falling on a weekend or statutory holiday moves to the next working day. International applicants follow the same intake structure with deadlines of 1 May (September), 1 October (January) and 1 February (May); TRU still reviews later applications where space remains, though high-volume programs can close early, so admission runs on a rolling basis around these published cut-offs for the 2027 entry cycle. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
