The Master of Nursing – Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP) program at TRU prepares registered nurses for entry-level, full-scope nurse practitioner practice, covering advanced health assessment, clinical diagnosis, comprehensive case management, and related clinical skills, alongside graduate-level training in clinical reasoning, scholarship, advocacy, and leadership. Delivery combines virtual and on-campus learning with clinical practice components, including training in advanced simulation labs on TRU's Kamloops campus and mentored preceptorship placements across British Columbia. Students can focus their studies in areas such as Indigenous health or care of seniors. The program takes two to three years to complete. TRU describes it as the first nurse practitioner program in the southern Interior of British Columbia and one of four such programs offered provincially. The university states that the next intake begins in May 2026, with applications opening September 1, 2026. The program suits registered nurses seeking to move into advanced-practice, full-scope nurse practitioner roles to help meet growing healthcare needs in British Columbia, particularly those interested in serving Indigenous communities or seniors, and who can undertake a hybrid mix of on-campus, virtual, and clinical placement learning.
