Program details
Overview
This Bachelor of Fine Arts program in Image Arts: Film covers the full filmmaking process, from screenwriting and cinematography to sound design and editing, using both digital and analog technologies. The program is full-time over four years and combines studio production courses with internship placements, giving students the chance to produce their own films while based in Toronto's film industry. The Hollywood Reporter ranked the program among the top 15 global film schools in 2023. Admission follows a Grades-Plus process: alongside academic requirements, applicants submit a short film or video, a project outline for a dramatic film adaptation, a written statement on influential films, and a resume, together with a non-refundable assessment fee. The program suits students seeking a technically comprehensive, hands-on route into narrative and documentary filmmaking, with graduates typically moving into production, cinematography, editing and other craft roles across the film and screen industry, rather than students looking for a broader media studies or business-focused media degree.
