Overview
Aerospace Engineering is a Doctor of Philosophy offered by Toronto Metropolitan University's Department of Aerospace Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science. The programme focuses on the intellectual development of graduate students in aerospace engineering, building critical and independent thinking through advanced coursework and one of three research specializations. Doctoral candidates work with a faculty supervisor on original research and complete a written and oral candidacy examination in their field of study. Students may pursue the AERIAS internship, conducting research with aerospace industry partners such as Bombardier, BionX and UTC Aerospace Systems, applied to commercial aircraft development. The department maintains laboratories and facilities supporting experimental and computational aerospace research. Graduates are prepared for research, academic and industrial careers in aerospace engineering, working on problems spanning aircraft design, propulsion, structures and systems. The programme is offered full-time and part-time.
