Hons in Arts and Contemporary Studies

Arts and Contemporary Studies is an Honours Bachelor of Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University that lets students combine subjects across the humanities and social sciences to examine contemporary social, cultural and creative issues from multiple disciplinary perspectives. Students can pursue an optional concentration in Anthropology, Cultural and Media Studies, or Global Studies alongside the core interdisciplinary curriculum. The program is offered as a 4-year full-time degree, with a 5-year co-op option that adds paid work-integrated learning terms. Coursework draws on methods and material from across the Faculty of Arts, letting students design a course of study around their own interests rather than a single disciplinary track. Graduates typically pursue careers in fields such as media, communications, cultural and community organizations, and public policy, or continue to graduate study, drawing on the research, writing and critical-thinking skills developed across the interdisciplinary curriculum.
