Program details
Overview
This Bachelor of Fine Arts program explores the intersection of art and technology, covering coding, electronics, immersive installation work, video games, wearable computing, kinetic art, interactive design, and video and sound production. The first year includes creative processes, an introduction to new media, game design, audio production, video art, and computational arts. From this base, students choose among three pathways: interactive design, new media art, and video games. It runs full-time over four years and includes internship opportunities, with experiential learning supported through partnerships and participation in hackathons and maker-style events. Admission is grades-only, based on completion of required Ontario Grade 12 courses with a minimum average, including English. The program suits students who want to combine artistic practice with emerging technology rather than pursue a purely technical computer science route or a purely studio-arts route, and who are open to specializing later in interactive design, art-based new media work, or game development.

Minimum GPA:70.00 / %
Admission Requirements: This is a Grades-Only programme, with admission based on academic performance. Direct entry requires the OSSD with six Grade 12 U or M courses, including English (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred) at a minimum of 70%, and an overall average of at least 70% to be considered; recent admitting averages have run 70-75% depending on application volume and available spaces. Applicants without Ontario schooling may be considered with the recognised equivalent, at TMU's discretion. The programme page defers to the university's general admission requirements for English proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (no minimum band), TOEFL iBT 92, Duolingo English Test 120, PTE Academic 60 or CAEL 70.
Application Details
Application Deadline:Toronto Metropolitan University sets one guaranteed-consideration date for both domestic and international applicants applying for Fall 2027 entry: complete applications and amendments received by 1 February 2027 receive equal consideration for admission, and TMU says this same date applies to 'all domestic & international applicants.' Non-academic ('Grades-Plus') requirements are generally due around this point too, though the exact date varies by programme. For Winter 2027 (January-start) entry, TMU's program-status page gives domestic applicants a guaranteed-consideration date of 1 December 2026, with most programmes closing applications in mid-December; a limited number of programmes separately accept international applications for winter admission subject to space availability, but TMU publishes no fixed closing date for those international winter applicants. Admission is not rolling: late applications are considered only as space allows after the guaranteed-consideration date. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
