Biomedical Engineering is a Doctor of Philosophy offered collaboratively through Toronto Metropolitan University's Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science, preparing graduates for research careers spanning engineering and the biomedical sciences. The programme combines advanced coursework with independent research supervised by faculty across engineering and biomedical science disciplines, including biology, biochemistry, physiology, immunology and genetics. Admission requires a master's degree in biomedical engineering or a related engineering or biomedical science field. Students connect with a research supervisor before applying and submit their application through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre and the Yeates School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Graduates work on problems at the interface of engineering and human health, including medical devices, diagnostics and biomedical systems, and are prepared for research, academic and industry careers in the field.
